Initial Appointments
Booking an appointment
To ensure we can provide you with the most appropriate care, we kindly ask that a copy of your referral be sent to us before an appointment can be scheduled. Referrals can be submitted via email, fax, or delivered in person to our practice.
All referrals are reviewed by our ENT specialists prior to booking. In some cases, they may recommend that additional tests be completed before your initial consultation. If this applies to you, our nursing team will be in touch with further instructions.
Once your referral has been received and assessed, a member of our friendly team will contact you to arrange your appointment.
Running late for your appointment?
At Ear Nose Throat Newcastle, we strive to run as closely to schedule as possible to respect the time of all our patients. We kindly ask that you arrive 10 minutes early for your appointment to allow time for check-in.
If you believe you may be running late, please call us as soon as possible so we can advise you on the best course of action. We will do our best to accommodate you where possible.

FEES
Fee Information for Consultations and Procedures
At Ear Nose Throat Newcastle, each of our practitioners independently determines their consultation and procedure fees. You will be informed of all relevant consultation fees at the time of booking.
We understand that navigating the costs associated with private healthcare can be confusing, and we are committed to being as transparent as possible. If you have any questions or would like further clarification regarding fees, please don’t hesitate to contact our team on admin@entnewcastle.com.au or by phone.
Full payment is required on the day of your consultation. We accept EFTPOS, cheque, or cash. Medicare rebates are processed at the time of your visit via the Easyclaim system. If your bank details are registered with Medicare, your rebate is typically deposited into your account within 24 hours.
If your consultation or procedure fees will be covered by a third party, please advise our staff when booking.
In-consult procedures—such as nasendoscopy, nasal cautery, ear tympanometry, swabs, or biopsies—will be bulk billed to Medicare, provided you have both a valid Medicare card and a current referral.
What if I need to cancel?
At Ear Nose Throat Newcastle, we kindly ask that you provide at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. This allows us to offer the appointment to another patient on our waiting list who may be in need of earlier care.
If less than 24 hours’ notice is given, or if you do not attend your scheduled appointment, a non-rebatable fee of $150.00 will apply.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping us provide timely care to all our patients.
No private health insurance?
Our ENT specialists welcome both privately insured patients and those who choose to self-fund their care. Please note we cannot book patients onto the public waitlists for surgery. If you require surgery in the public system, please ask your GP to send your ENT referral to your local public hospital.
If surgery is recommended, there are three available options for proceeding privately. To learn more about these options and what may be most suitable for your situation, please visit: options for patients without private health insurance.
