Why do you need a copy of my referral before I can make an appointment?

Our Specialists read every referral before we are able to offer you an appointment.

In some cases, we may require you to get a hearing test, an MRI or trial medical therapy before your appointment.  In other cases, they may feel that your condition is better suited to another ENT in the area.

I was sent a questionnaire via email, do I have to fill it out?

We send some patients a questionnaire based on their referral.  It is strongly recommended that you fill out this questionnaire as soon as you receive it. Your answers may flag additional testing or medical therapies that may be required before your initial appointment.  Filling out the questionnaire also ensures that your appointment is tailored to your individual needs.

How long will my appointment be?

Our schedule allows 20 minutes for new patients and 10 minutes for review patients.

What is your cancellation policy?

We require a minimum of 24 hours notice for any cancellations. We have an extensive waiting list of patients who are eager for an earlier appointment, and this notice allows us the time to contact them.  Without 24 hours notice being given, a non-rebatable fee of $110.00 will be charged. The same fee will apply if you fail to attend a scheduled appointment.

What if I don't have private health insurance?

There are many Ear Nose and Throat conditions that do not require surgery.  These problems can be assessed and managed in our private rooms without an operation.

If surgery is required, please visit the following link for more information:  https://entnewcastle.com.au/no-health-insurance/

Our family is separated, what is your policy on shared parental rights?

It is our expectation that families work respectfully and collaboratively to achieve the best outcome for their child.

Any court orders or relevant legal documents should be provided as soon as possible and updated with us, should they change.

If only one parent/guardian is able to attend an appointment, it is that parent/guardian’s responsibility to provide all relevant information to the other party, unless this is contrary to directions specified in court documents.

If the alternate parent/guardian wishes to speak with the specialist, another appointment will need to be made and associated fees paid. We will happily provide a duplicate set of all written information given at the time of consult.
